Lets Skoda Prague!

Following the incredible success of both Staples2Naples and Home2Rome we added our third event to the Banger Rally Season with the rough-and-ready CzechWrecks.

Rather than heading to Italy as a destination, CzechWrecks (CRX or 'see-wrecks' for short) heads to Europe's one and only 'City of 100 Spires', Prague. That's right. Eastern Europe here we come!

On the way to Prague, CRX crosses the Swiss Alps over the Simplon Pass, climbing Passo Del Stelvio - probably the highest mountain pass in Europe and a favourite of StreetSafari ralliers regardless of event.

The finish, of course, is the absolutely breathtaking Zlata Praha (that's Golden Prague for all you non-Czech speakers out there... okay, so we looked it up ourselves, but we're clever like that).

Bigger and Better every year ... Onward and Upward

CzechWrecks 2006 was incredibly good fun. Some of the hardest driving we've ever done, followed by a showdown at the border! Most teams got into the Czech Republic, but not before being held up for an hour or two and getting on TV!

CzechWrecks 2007 was even bigger than 2006, with an appropriate ending at what might be Prague's only authentic English pub!

The biggest change of 2008 had to be the disappearance of the Czech border. We don't mean changes, we don't mean that they put a closed sign on the kiosk and turned out the light. We mean disappearance. It was with a teary eye that we rolled over the barren place where once stood dozens of hapless teams, biding their time until the Czech border guards had had their fill of watching foreigners squirm before being given entry into the Czech Republic.

Ah, well, nothing lasts forever.

One Make Series....

We've always wondered about making one of the events a one make series, but we've never actually done it.

It's a tall order asking everyone to buy one make of car, and although it won't be compulsory, we are giving all teams who field a Skoda a serious points advantage.

We are going to encourage all teams to buy Skoda! And if everyone is driving a Skoda, there could be plenty of spares on the way. Chances are, we could probably sell the cars in Prague for a profit.

How many countries?

CzechWrecks visits six countries: France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. If you make it all the way, that is.

The route and stopovers have been in preparation for some time and may or may not change from previous years. As in all our StreetSafari events, routes are subject to change due to circumstances outside our control.

We have, after all, had to accomodate floods, snows, yodeling festivals, and even a hurricane between the seven - count 'em, seven - events. But as in the past, we roll regardless.

Whats the Prize?

The Team that manages to acquire the most points over 4 days of hard driving and off-the-wall challenges gets £1000 in cash.

The second place team wins £350 and the third place team receives £150.

However, you must make it to the end!

We are also giving away several awards to Teams who we feel have earned it. These will be decided throughout the year, however, the current list is:
